Who we are

Our website address is: https://respectinghealth.com (the “Site” or “Respecting Health” or “we”). Respecting Health collects data as indicated below. We do not collect any data for the purpose of selling or trading your information with anyone for any purpose.

How Your Data Is Collected

When visitors post comments using the interactive form on the Site, we collect the data submitted in the form fields, including the comment content, name, email and poster’s website. In addition, we collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. All posted comments will be reviewed by Respecting Health for purposes of content moderation. Visitor comments may also be vetted by an automated third-party spam detection service. Comments approved by Respecting Health will be published on the Site.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine if you are using that service. The Gravatar website and features are owned and operated by a third party. This privacy policy does not cover the privacy practices of such third parties. These third parties have their own privacy policies and we do not accept any responsibility or liability for their websites, features or policies. We recommend you read their privacy policies before you submit any data to them. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. The Gravatar service integration allows your Gravatar profile picture to be displayed in connection with your published comment(s) on the Site.

We collect information about visitors who post comments on Site that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the visitor sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

If you post a comment using the interactive form on the Site, you have the option to consent to the Site saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This feature is offered for your convenience, it prevents you from being required to fill in these details each time you post a comment on the Site. When you visit the Site, we may set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Why We Collect and Use Your Data

We collect your data for the following business purposes:

  • To provide Respecting Health’s services to you and other Site visitors

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your comment data

If you post a comment on the Site, the comment and its metadata are retained while we continue to provide Respecting Health services, subject to any written request by you, received by Respecting Health, to delete such data. We reserve the right to keep your data for as long as is necessary:

  • To respond to any questions, complaints or claims made by you or on your behalf;

  • To show that we treated you fairly; or

  • To keep records required by law.

  • We will not retain your personal information for longer than necessary for the purposes set out in this policy.

What rights you have over your data

If you have submitted a comment(s) on the Site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
